Workshop Trustworthy AI: Privacy and Data Protection – Ethical and Legal Perspectives
Zielgruppe
This workshop is designed for practitioners using and working on AI solutions, including developers, data scientists, compliance officers, data protection officers, and project stakeholders – including users from the broader public – who are interested in reflecting on privacy and data protection in AI.
This webinar is open and free of charge for all participants from academia, industry, and public administration fromEUand/orEuroHPC JUmember countries.
Inhalt und Ziele
Privacy and data protection are key elements of Trustworthy AI. They raise practical questions that are highly relevant for actors developing, deploying or using AI systems: How can personal data be processed lawfully throughout the AI lifecycle? When do GDPR principles such as purpose limitation, data minimisation and transparency become challenging in AI contexts? How can responsibilities, accountability and technical–organisational measures be designed in practice? And what do recent legislative changes – notably under the Digital Omnibus on AI – mean for organisations that process personal data to develop, train or operate AI systems?
In this interactive 2-hour session, we will explore privacy and data protection in the context of Trustworthy AI. Participants will work with their own AI or pre-selected use cases and reflect on approaches to compliant data processing, risk assessment and privacy-by-design – including how to assess and apply the new Omnibus easements in practice.
Key topics include:
- Privacy and data protection as core elements of Trustworthy AI
- GDPR requirements for AI development, training, deployment and use
- Lawful bases, purpose limitation, data minimisation and transparency in AI contexts
- Bias detection and correction: processing of special categories of personal data where strictly necessary to detect and correct bias, under the conditions set out in the Digital Omnibus on AI / AI Act amendments
- Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk-oriented approaches for AI systems
- Privacy by design and by default: organisational and technical measures in practice
- Peer exchange on practical implementation challenges
- Risks of inadequate data protection in AI projects
Important:Participants are asked to bring a concrete AI use case from their own work or project context. This use case will serve as the basis for the interactive exercise and peer discussion during the workshop. There will be pre-selected use cases available for those participants not bringing a case with them.
