Inhalt und Ziele

Artificial intelligence (AI) must be human-centered and trustworthy. This concept is based on three specific requirements: AI must be lawful, ethical, and robust.

This webinar builds on the previous eventFundamentals of Trustworthy AIand provides in-depth insights into the legal requirements that must be met when developing and using AI. In a one-hour online seminar, knowledge about requirements arising from the AI Act, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and copyright law is imparted.

At the end of the webinar, participants will know which risk classes the AI Act recognizes and what requirements arise from them. Furthermore, a solid understanding of data protection challenges will be conveyed and the tasks that organizations must perform in order to use AI in a data protection compliant manner will be discussed. Finally, an overview of copyright law will be provided in order to convey sensitivity to the use of works for training AI and awareness of the use of generative AI results.

Michael Löffler (AI Factory Austria AI:AT)
DI Michael Löffler is a computer scientist currently studying law. At AI Factory Austria AI:AT, he coordinates Law, Ethics, and Regulation. He has been working on issues at the intersection of technology and law for more than 17 years. During this time, he worked for renowned law firms, served as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology – Austria’s largest non-university research institution – and conducted research on digital fundamental rights. As an editorial board member of the journalDatenschutz konkret (Dako), he continuously publishes on data protection issues and is involved intraining data protection officersin collaboration with Business Circle.

Krisztina Rozgonyi (AI Factory Austria AI:AT)
DDr. phil. et iur. Krisztina Rozgonyi MBA is aSenior Scientistat the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) within theCenter for Innovation Systems & Policy. Her work focuses on infocommunication policy and societal transformations, digital platform governance, AI ethics and policy change, as well as the rule of law in governance. She has an extensive track record as asenior international expertin media, telecommunications, and intellectual property law and policy. She has collaborated with international and European organizations (such as the ITU/UN, UNESCO, Council of Europe, European Commission, World Bank InfoDev, OSCE, and BBC MA), national governments, and regulators as an adviser on media freedom, spectrum policy, and digital platform governance. She has also been deeply involved in legal and policy reform processes. Before her academic career, she served as the head of a Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in an EU Member State. Currently, Dr. Rozgonyi is also affiliated with the Institute forComparative Media and Communication Studies (CMC)at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), where her research focuses on comparative media systems. She is furthermore a fellow with thepolicy platformat the Department of Communication of the University of Vienna. At AI:AT, she collaborates closely with the Legal & Ethics Team, supporting projects that embed trustworthy AI by design, with a particular emphasis on intellectual property aspects of AI development and deployment.
