What does it take to talk about law in English? Once again, the magic formula is “terminology & communication” – ideally, in an integrated package. You want to feel confident when communicating about legal issues in English? You want to use key legal vocabulary correctly? Come to “Legally Speaking” and …

  • Learn how to talk about the Austrian legal system:
    • Civil, criminal and administrative law
    • Sources of Austrian and EU law
    • Authorities, courts and procedure
  • Get a firm grip on essential terminology and key phrases, e.g.:
    • What’s the difference between “proceedings” and “procedure”, between “judgment” and “sentence”, between “guilt”, “liability”, and “fault”?
    • What’s the English for Bescheid and Beschwerde?
    • to be charged with theft, to be awarded € 1,000 IN damages, to be fined € 150
  • Confidently use this vocabulary in conversation:
    • Discussing cases from Austria and abroad
    • Talking about your own field of work
