EU Negotiating and Influencing Skills

Zielgruppe

Anyone involved in negotiations with the EU institutions.

Inhalt und Ziele

This highly interactive course of three half-days is for anybody who wants to improve their EU influencing and negotiating skills. You will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to influence counterparts, to negotiate effectively in the EU and to understand how best to prepare for such negotiations.

The course is designed for Austrian officials who would like to build up their influence and boost their chances of success in EU negotiations. International EU lecturer Adam Steinhouse, former head of the School of European Studies at the UK National School of Government, will facilitate the course. The course includes engaging presentations and group activities.

On completion, you should

  • understand the basic skills and approaches needed for successful negotiations in Brussels;
  • know how to devise a cohesive lobbying strategy including the European Parliament;
  • have considered and practised skills, tools and strategies suitable for EU negotiations.

The course will enable any staff working on EU matters to do their jobs with greater confidence and effectiveness.

Lernmethode

Interactive presentation, simulation, group- and pair-work and reflection

Technical requirements:

  • PC / laptop / tablet / smartphone (possibly private) with camera and microphone as well as internet access, headphones are recommended
  • Webinar software platform Zoom or similar
